Who do I call to correct the following maintenance problems?
City water main leaks?
Street, alley or walkway obstruction (trees, etc.)?
Street drainage problems (flooding, etc.)?
Street light outages or malfunctions? (Please write down the pole number and note if the pole is wood or metal)
Street marking/striping, street repairs (potholes, etc.)?
Street sign repair/replacement?
Traffic sign repair/replacement?


For repair and follow-up action, contact the Public Works Department at: (559) 834-3113. For URGENT problems occurring on weekends or after working hours, contact the Police Department. The Police Dispatcher will contact the on-call personnel to respond to the problem. Do not use 911 except for police, medical or fire emergencies.

When do I need a City permit?

Building Permit -- Contact the Building Department at (559) 834-3113 ext. 119 before starting any work to determine if a building permit is required.

Who do I talk to about building code questions?
The City building inspector is available at (559) 834-3113 ext. 119 to answer questions. Please call this number to schedule an appointment with the inspector during regular office hours. To schedule a field inspection (after you have a building permit), call (559) 834-4832 on the business day before you need the inspection to occur. You may leave a message on the voice mail system at any time (24 hours/day).

When do I need and how do I obtain a business license?

Anyone conducting business within the city limits is required to have a business license. Please call (559) 834-3113 ext. 100 for business license fees and information. Download application form here.

Where do I obtain a dog license?
City dog licenses can be obtained by either presenting proof of current rabies vaccination to the Administration Department at City Hall. The cost is $4.00 for spayed or neutered and $6.00 if not spayed or neutered. Dog licenses must be renewed by March 31st of each year.

I have a problem with or a question about:
A blocked sewer line
The property owner is responsible for sewer line pipes within their building and out to your property line. For blockages in your private system, contact a local plumber. For all other blockages call S. K. F. County Sanitation District at (559) 896-4420.

City street trees and landscaping maintenance
The property owner is responsible for maintaining all trees and landscaping adjacent to/in front of their property, including the portion between the sidewalk and edge of the street pavement. This includes keeping the walkway, street and alley clear of overgrown trees and plants. The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of:
*median islands within city streets
*public ponding basins and lighting and landscaping districts

Graffiti removal
For removal of graffiti on public property, contact the Public Works Department at (559) 834-3113.

Removal of abandoned vehicles - Removal of weeds and debris
