The City of Fowler is now accepting applications to fill one vacant City Council seat.
Community members interested in serving on the City Council may follow the application instructions below and submit all required materials by May 29, 2026.
NOTICE OF VACANCY & FILING INSTRUCTIONS Position: City Councilmember (1 Vacancy)
Filing Period: Opens on May 11, 2026. The application period will close pm Friday May 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Submission: Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office via:
- In-Person/Mail: Fowler City Hall, 128 S. 5th Street, Fowler, CA 93625
- Complete, scan and email to: avasquez [at] ci.fowler.ca.us (avasquez[at]ci[dot]fowler[dot]ca[dot]us)
Selection Process:
1. Initial Screening: Staff will verify voter registration and residency. City Council will then invite the most qualified applicants for an interview.
2. Interviews: Qualified candidates will be invited to a public interview during the City Council meeting. The tentative date for the initial interviews will be June 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM. This date is subject to change based on Council availability. Applicants chosen for an interview will be notified to confirm the date of the interview.
3. Appointment: With the consensus of a majority of Council, an appointment may be made following the interviews
